Abstract

In this study, marine Streptomyces exfoliatus was isolated from the Red Sea, Egypt, and was identified using 16s rRNA. S. exfoliatus was fermented on different media under different carbon source concentrations, pH, temperatures, distilled H2O, and sea H2O, under shaking and static conditions. The active material was isolated by chloroform and ethyl acetate extractions then separated by column chromatography and purified by preparative TLC and identified by GC-MS. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus inhibited by ß-caryophyllene.
